Position: Finance Business Partner 
Location: Southwest England
Duration: 3 Months 
Rate: £600.00 per day

Purpose of the Role: 

My client are seeking a dynamic and proactive Finance Business Partner – Chief Accountant to join their Finance team. This is a key leadership role, offering the opportunity to help shape the future of financial strategy and technical accounting in one of the UK’s most vibrant cities.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead on technical accounting and statutory reporting including compliance with IFRS, SORP and CIPFA Code of Practice.
• Manage the council’s Collection Fund and oversee budget setting for council tax and business rates.
• Provide expert guidance to senior stakeholders and support service transformation through sound financial planning.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of financial strategy.
• Lead and develop a high-performing finance team, fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence.

What We're Looking For:

• A qualified accountant (CCAB or equivalent).
• Significant experience in technical accounting within a Local Authority setting.
• Strong working knowledge of IFRS, the SORP, CIPFA Code of Practice, and public sector funding frameworks.
• Expertise in Council Tax Collection Fund accounting and local government budget setting.
• Proven leadership skills and the ability to develop and manage effective stakeholder relationships.
