Position: Business Support Officer
Location: Bristol
Duration: 3 Months 
Rate: £19.90 per hour

Purpose of the Role: 

My client is launching a new, centralised Debt Recovery Team aimed at maximising income, reducing outstanding debt, and streamlining recovery processes. As part of this initiative, we are looking to recruit two Senior Business Support Officers to play a key role in the setup and day-to-day delivery of the team’s objectives.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the improvement of council-wide recovery practices while delivering tangible financial outcomes.


Key Responsibilities:

• Support the development and coordination of effective debt recovery processes.
• Take ownership of end-to-end debt recovery tasks, ensuring prompt and accurate follow-up.
• Liaise with debtors through phone calls, emails, and written correspondence to pursue payments.
• Provide timely operational decisions in line with established procedures and service requirements.
• Work collaboratively with internal service areas to identify opportunities for improvement and implement best practices.
• Contribute to the rapid development and continuous refinement of team procedures.

• Previous experience in a debt recovery environment is essential – local government experience is highly desirable.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Familiarity with debt recovery and financial software systems.
• Sound understanding of relevant debt recovery legislation and procedures.
• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• A proactive approach to identifying issues and delivering improvements.
