Key Responsibilities:
Complex Security Risk Assessment and Advisory:
Conduct comprehensive security risk assessments for space domain awareness and control systems.
Provide expert advice on the application of procedural security controls across complex system environments.
Analyse threat landscapes specific to space systems and develop risk mitigation strategies.
Develop security risk frameworks tailored to space domain operational requirements.
Coordinate security risk assessments with Defence and industry stakeholders.
Support security certification activities for hardware and software deployments.
Specialist Security Advisory Services:
Provide complex specialist advice explaining systems security strengths and weaknesses.
Deliver technical security briefings to stakeholders across Defence, industry, and international partners.
Support senior leadership decision-making through comprehensive security assessments.
Mentor junior staff and contribute to capability development across the organisation.
Policy Interpretation and Standards Development:
Interpret complex security policies and regulations applicable to space domain systems.
Support policy development initiatives and provide technical input to strategic planning.
Coordinate with Defence security authorities on policy implementation and compliance.
Technical Specialisation and Knowledge Management:
Actively maintain expertise in one or more identifiable security specialisms relevant to space systems.
Provide specialist advice regarding the application of security specialisms to organisational requirements.
Stay current with emerging cyber threats and security technologies in the space domain.
Information System Design Review and Assurance:
Review information system designs for security weaknesses and potential breaches.
Conduct security architecture assessments and provide design improvement recommendations.
Coordinate security design reviews with system architects and engineering teams.
Ensure security requirements are integrated throughout system development lifecycles.
Strategic Planning and Program Support:
Contribute to strategic planning activities for space domain cybersecurity initiatives.
Support program and project management activities with security expertise and guidance.
Participate in policy development processes and contribute to organisational strategy.
Coordinate cybersecurity activities across multiple programs and projects.
Stakeholder Engagement and Collaboration:
Maintain extensive stakeholder relationships across Defence, industry, and international partners.
Facilitate collaboration between technical teams, policy makers, and operational stakeholders.
Support international cooperation initiatives and information sharing agreements.
Coordinate with external cybersecurity authorities and certification bodies.
Professional Development and Continuous Improvement:
Participate in professional development programs and industry training initiatives.
Support knowledge transfer and capability building across the organisation.
Contribute to cybersecurity community of practice development.
Technical Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or related field (desirable).
Demonstrated experience in cybersecurity engineering and risk assessment.
Knowledge of Defence cybersecurity frameworks, standards, and policies.
Experience with security certification and accreditation processes.
Cybersecurity Expertise:
Comprehensive understanding of cybersecurity principles, practices, and technologies.
Experience with security risk assessment methodologies and frameworks.
Knowledge of hardware and software security features and capabilities.
Understanding of secure system design principles and implementation.
Familiarity with space systems security considerations and challenges.
Policy and Compliance Knowledge
Understanding of legislative frameworks and government decision-making processes.
Knowledge of Defence mission requirements and policy frameworks.
Experience with security policy interpretation and standards development.
Familiarity with Defence governance and compliance requirements.
Understanding of Australian Government security regulations and guidelines.
Communication and Stakeholder Management:
Strong communication skills with ability to explain complex technical concepts.
Excellent attention to detail and analytical capabilities.
Proven ability to work effectively as part of integrated teams.
Experience in stakeholder engagement and relationship management.
