Looking to hire a Hydraulics/Pneumatic (Fluids) Engineer for our Howell location. We design and build custom test machines for automotive and industrial component manufacturers. We have expertise in hydraulics, controls, electronics, fixture design, and assembly line integration.
We are seeking a detailed individual to work as a fluids engineer with a focus on hydraulic and pneumatic design of the machines built in Michigan.
The machines are related to functional testing of products (in-process test, end-of-line test), laboratory testing (development test), as well as specialty lean product assembly cells. All of the machines use state-of-the-art technology.
As a fluids engineer, you will work in a team of mechanical, electrical, and controls engineers, machine builders, and electricians. You will see your work come to life in the form of a functioning machine.
Engineering, design, and analysis work will take place at your desk.
Machine assembly and debugging take place on our clean, state-of-the-art shop floor.
Responsibilities:
- Design of hydraulic and pneumatic circuits that clamp and actuate tooling and fixturing.
- Design and calculate a hydraulic and pneumatic test system to provide fluid flow, temperature, and pressure within the machine, and precisely measure temperature, pressure, and flow for product testing.
- Hydraulic and pneumatic design will be done in AutoCAD.
- Work closely with mechanical designers, controls engineers, and software engineers to ensure the overall test machine functions safely, reliably, and repeatably.
- Develop Bills of Material and work with purchasing to procure appropriate materials and equipment.
- Assist machine builders with the assembly and startup of the machines.
- Communicate with Project Managers and the customer where necessary.
- Assist the Service team in troubleshooting customers' machines in the field.
Qualifications:
- Proficient in AutoCAD.
- Knowledge of SolidWorks.
- Using creativity and best practices in design philosophy.
- Good debugging/troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Good Overall PC Computer/Microsoft Suite knowledge.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- 5 to 15 years of experience, designing/engineering hydraulic/pneumatic systems.
- Experience with fluid components, valves, pumps, flow control, pressure control, servo hydraulics, etc.
- Experience with general mechanical design, PLC, and PC controls will be valuable.
- Electrical design is a plus.
- BSME or equivalent.
