Seeking a skilled CNC Lathe Setup Machinist to join our growing precision machining team. This position is responsible for independently setting up and operating CNC lathes to manufacture tight-tolerance components for aerospace, defense, cryogenic, vacuum, and industrial applications.
The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, and capable of troubleshooting setups, maintaining quality standards, and performing efficiently in a fast-paced precision manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities:
Perform complete setups on CNC lathes and turning centers.
Read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, setup sheets, and process documentation.
Load programs, tooling, jaws, and workholding.
Set tool and wear offsets.
Prove out jobs and make process adjustments as needed.
Perform first-piece and in-process inspections.
Hold tight tolerances and maintain surface finish requirements.
Troubleshoot dimensional, tooling, and machine issues independently.
Verify material and revision levels prior to production.
Complete production and quality documentation accurately.
Maintain clean and organized work areas.
Perform all functions in accordance with company quality procedures within an ISO 9001 / AS9100 certified and ITAR-registered manufacturing facility.
Follow all company safety requirements and controlled document procedures.
Qualifications:
3+ years of CNC lathe setup experience preferred.
Ability to independently perform setups with minimal supervision.
Strong blueprint reading and GD&T knowledge.
Experience with tight-tolerance machining.
Familiarity with precision inspection equipment, including micrometers, calipers, bore gages, and indicators.
Strong understanding of feeds, speeds, tooling, and workholding.
Basic program editing at the machine control is preferred.
