A well-established mixed farming operation near Narrabri is seeking a capable Senior Farm Hand to join their team. This is a hands-on role working across a modern cropping program with quality gear, a well-equipped workshop, and a supportive crew.
When we say 'senior,' we mean experience, skills, and attitude, not age. We welcome applications from both younger and older candidates. What matters most is your work ethic, willingness to learn, and genuine passion for farming.
Accommodation is provided with a comfortable 4-bedroom, 1-bathroom house located close to Narrabri, offering easy access to town while still being part of a great farming community.
The Operation
The property runs a mixed cropping program across both dryland and irrigation country, producing cotton, wheat and chickpeas. Irrigation is managed using siphons, so experience with siphon irrigation or a willingness to learn will be highly valued.
Machinery and infrastructure are modern and well-maintained, including:
- Case tractors and spray rigs
- JCB earthmoving equipment
- Claas header
- John Deere cotton strippers
- NDF and Boss planters
- SwarmFarm robotic spray rig
- Large, well-equipped workshop
The Role Involves
You will be involved across all aspects of farm operations, including:
- Row crop planting, including cotton
- Broadacre planting of winter cereals and pulses
- Spraying with self-propelled, tow-behind and SwarmFarm robotic rigs
- General tractor work, including ploughing, loader work and bale collection
- Excavator operation
- Header and chaser bin operation during harvest
- Cotton stripper operation
- Workshop duties including welding, fabrication and basic repairs
- Routine servicing and mechanical maintenance
- Providing occasional supervision and guidance to up to three seasonal staff
- Irrigation duties, including hands-on siphon work
