Vacant Position: Gunnedah and Coonamble, New South Wales.
An opportunity is available for an Experienced / Senior Farm Hand to join an established, family-run broadacre farming operation, based outside of Gunnedah and Coonamble, New South Wales.
This is a full-time position suited to someone who enjoys variety, can think for themselves and takes genuine pride in looking after machinery and equipment.
The operation predominantly grows wheat, canola and chickpeas, along with some sorghum, and completes the full cropping program in-house from ground preparation through to harvest. There is also a cattle component within the broader operation, however the role will primarily be focused on cropping.
In addition to the farming operation, the family runs an agricultural contracting business focused on planting and harvesting, providing further variety during the busy seasons.
ABOUT THE ROLE
You'll be involved across the day-to-day farming operation and will need to be comfortable taking responsibility and getting on with the job.
Duties will include:
• Ground preparation and paddock work
• Spraying
• Planting
• Harvesting
• General machinery operation
• Machinery servicing, maintenance and repairs
• General farm duties
• Assisting with planting and harvesting contracting work
• Working across two farming properties as required
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
We're looking for someone with solid broadacre farming experience who is practical, mechanically minded and capable of working independently.
You'll ideally have:
• Previous broadacre cropping and machinery experience
• Experience across planting, spraying and harvesting
• Good mechanical knowledge and practical problem-solving ability
• Ability to carry out general machinery maintenance and repairs
• Welding and fabrication skills would be highly regarded
• A mechanical or boilermaker trade qualification would be a strong advantage
• Truck licence desirable
• Ability to work independently
• A good attitude towards machinery care and maintenance
• Willingness to work as part of a small, hands-on family operation
• Flexibility to assist with both farming and contracting work
