We are seeking an Experienced Farm Hand to join a family-operated cropping enterprise, with Moree being the closest major town.
 
This is a full-time, permanent position for someone with solid cotton and row-cropping experience who is looking for a secure, long-term career. The operation incorporates dryland, flood-irrigated and bankless farming, producing cotton, sorghum and wheat.
 
This is a cropping-only role with no livestock work involved.
 
The Role
Duties will include:

• All aspects of cotton and row-crop production
• Ground preparation, planting, spraying and harvesting
• Working across dryland, flood-irrigated and bankless farming systems
• Operating tractors, cotton pickers, headers and self-propelled spraying equipment
• Operating trucks and trailers where appropriately licensed
• Mixing and handling chemicals once trained and assessed as competent
• Completing machinery maintenance and assisting in the workshop when required
• Working independently and as part of the farming team
• Communicating effectively by phone, text, two-way radio and in person

Hours will vary throughout the season, with extended hours of approximately 60 to 80 hours per week required during peak periods.
 
Machinery and Equipment
The machinery fleet includes:

• John Deere 8R and 8000 Series FWA tractors
• Case IH Quadtrac 4WD tractors
• John Deere cotton pickers
• Case IH header
• John Deere 4940 self-propelled sprayer
• Air seeders, grader boards, ploughs and other cultivation equipment
• John Deere GreenStar and Trimble GPS systems
• Kenworth trucks
• Tippers, side tippers, flat tops, cotton cartage equipment and floats

Training will be provided where required; however, applicants will need previous cotton and row-cropping experience.
 
About You
We are looking for someone who:

• Has previous cotton and broadacre row-cropping experience
• Understands the demands of planting, spraying, irrigation and harvest
• Is confident operating modern agricultural machinery
• Has a positive attitude towards work and the people around them
• Communicates clearly and reliably
• Can work independently and contribute as part of a team
• Is willing to assist with machinery maintenance and workshop duties
• Is seeking stable, long-term employment within a family farming operation

A driver's licence is strongly preferred, although an exceptional applicant without one may be considered. A truck licence would be advantageous but is not essential.
 
Accommodation and Package
Accommodation and electricity are included in the package, with options ranging from single accommodation to three and four-bedroom homes.
 
The accommodation is unfurnished. Pets may be considered; however, large animals and pig dogs cannot be accommodated.
 
A work vehicle is provided, with personal use depending on the agreed arrangement. Wages are paid fortnightly.
 
Location and Community
Moree is the closest major town and provides daycare, kindergarten, primary and secondary schooling, along with sporting, shopping, medical and community facilities.
 
Mallowa Public School and the school bus service are both within a very reasonable distance of the property.
