Hands-on sheet metal fabrication role building custom power distribution equipment at an established Addison, IL manufacturer
This role may also be known as:
Sheet Metal Worker
Sheet Metal Fabricator
Press Brake Operator / Fabricator
Metal Fabrication Technician
What if the parts you fabricated this week ended up powering a hospital, a data center or a factory floor somewhere across the country? That is the reality of this role.
Our client designs and builds custom-engineered low and medium voltage power distribution and control equipment for industries, facilities and infrastructure nationwide. Because every job is built to order, fabricators here read the drawings, work out the layout and build something different, rather than feeding the same part through a machine all day.
This is a place for a fabricator who takes pride in accurate work, likes a fast pace and wants to be part of a business that values the people on the floor.
Why This Opportunity Is Different
Variety you can build a career on. Custom-engineered products mean you are constantly using your layout, measuring and machine skills, which keeps the work interesting and keeps you sharp.
Stability with momentum. This is a long-established manufacturer with roots in the 1930s and manufacturing sites across several states, combined with an agile, progressive culture that moves quickly.
Your work matters. The company prides itself on agility, collaboration and integrity, and the people doing the work have a direct impact on where the business goes next.
Room to broaden your skills. Welding experience is valued here, so fabricators who can do more have a place to show it.
What You'll Be Doing
Turning blueprints and metal layout drawings into accurate, finished sheet metal parts for custom electrical equipment.
Setting up and running sheet metal shears, press brakes, roll formers and other sheet metal operations.
Working out material type and quantity from plans and specifications, then selecting the right sheet metal or nonmetallic material for each job.
Laying out your own work with accurate calculations, marking dimensions and reference lines, and drilling holes for screws, bolts and rivets.
Installing metal sheets onto supporting frameworks.
Setting up and using a pressure washer to clean parts so they are ready for the next stage.
Checking assembly instructions to confirm every required part is present and making sure your work meets quality standards.
What We're Looking For
Hands-on experience operating hand and power tools common to the sheet metal trade.
Experience setting up and running shears and press brakes, with roll former experience a strong advantage.
Confidence reading blueprints and metal layout drawings.
Strong measuring and math skills for layout and material calculations.
A careful eye for quality and accuracy.
The ability to stay sharp and productive in a fast-paced environment.
Sheet metal trade experience is preferred.
Welding experience is a plus.
Compensation & Work Model
