Clean and stage fabricated sheet metal parts, get trained into painting, and join the union after 90 days. $23-$25/hr, 1st or 2nd shift.
General Laborer – Fabrication | Parts Wash with a Path Into Painting | $23–$25/hr | Addison, IL
This role may also be known as:
Parts Washer
Fabrication Helper
Production Laborer
Paint Line Trainee
Your Work Is the Step That Makes Everything Else Possible
Every part that leaves a fabrication shop has to be right before it moves on, and this is the role that makes that happen. Before anything gets painted, assembled, or shipped, it comes through you.
This is not a dead-end labor job. You start in the wash area getting parts clean and production-ready, and over time you are trained in painting. That gives you a clear next step and a skill set worth building on.
Add $23 to $25 per hour, union membership after 90 days, and your choice of first or second shift, and you have the kind of steady, long-term opportunity that is hard to find.
Why This Opportunity Is Different
Most general labor roles stay general labor. This one comes with a defined path into painting, so you grow your skills while you earn. Union membership after 90 days adds structure and stability that many manufacturing jobs do not offer. You will be part of a fabrication team that depends on your work every shift, so your attention to quality is seen and valued. Two shift options mean you can choose the schedule that fits your life.
What You’ll Be Doing
Getting fabricated sheet metal parts clean and production-ready by setting up and running a pressure washer.
Catching residue, damage, or defects before they become someone else’s problem.
Keeping production flowing by moving, staging, and organizing parts between the wash area and fabrication stations.
Making sure every part is complete and correctly identified before it moves to the next stage.
Keeping your work area clean, organized, and safe.
Following safety procedures and wearing required PPE at all times.
Supporting the fabrication team wherever you are needed.
Learning painting processes and moving into painting duties over time.
What We’re Looking For
Ability to do physical work, including standing for long periods, lifting, and handling parts.
Reliability, punctuality, and commitment to working your assigned shift, first or second.
Comfort working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Ability to follow instructions and safety procedures closely.
Strong attention to detail and pride in quality work.
Manufacturing, fabrication, or warehouse experience is a plus.
Pressure washing, parts cleaning, painting, or coating experience is a plus.
Familiarity with sheet metal parts is a plus.
Compensation & Work Model
$23 to $25 per hour.
Union membership after 90 days.
