Reefer Technician | Truck and Trailer Refrigeration | Day Shift
Why You’ll Want to Read On
Earn up to $38.00 an hour plus shift and skill premiums and a $3,000 sign-on bonus program.
Work days in a clean, well-equipped shop with state-of-the-art tools and software.
Get 25 to 40 hours of paid training every year, plus education reimbursement.
Tired of Chasing Parts, Working Nights, and Fighting Outdated Equipment?
Good reefer techs know the difference between a shop that values them and one that just burns through them. This is the first kind. You’ll join a team that services a large, growing fleet of tractors, trailers, and intermodal units, and treats its technicians as its most important asset.
Our client has been in business for more than 50 years and runs 11 terminals across North America with around 900 employees. That means steady work, a full bay, and the stability to plan your future. It also means you get the equipment, diagnostic tools, and support to do the job right the first time.
If you take pride in tracking down the fault nobody else could find and in keeping temperature-sensitive freight moving, this is a place where that skill is recognized and rewarded.
Why This Opportunity Is Different
Real investment in your growth: 25 to 40 hours of annual training, education reimbursement, and active support for national tractor and trailer apprenticeship certification programs.
A team-first shop: you’ll work side by side with a Service Writer and fellow technicians in a clean, professional, collaborative environment rather than working alone.
Modern tools: state-of-the-art equipment and software, with scanners, electronic test equipment, and on-board computers as part of your daily work.
Stability you can count on: an established, large-scale transportation operation with a growing fleet and consistent volume.
Total rewards that add up: shift and skill-based premiums, a $3,000 sign-on bonus program, a $500 tool and PPE allowance, a $300 boot allowance, group health benefits, an Employee and Family Assistance Program, and an RRSP with a company match.
What You’ll Be Doing
Keep reefer units road-ready through minor preventative maintenance, including downloads, prime and start, RPM adjustments, pre-trips, fuel polishing, wash-outs, and battery replacements.
Complete major services that extend unit life and reduce breakdowns on the road.
Diagnose, repair, and replace charging system components, including starters and alternators.
Restore engine performance by repairing flywheels, belts, bearings, and damper doors.
Solve electrical faults quickly using scanners, electronic test equipment, and on-board computers.
Troubleshoot and repair refrigeration failures on truck and trailer units, including Freon leak testing, component replacement, soldering, and welding.
Partner with the Service Writer to turn inspection findings into the right repair, done right the first time.
What We’re Looking For
5 to 7 years of experience as a reefer technician.
Hands-on experience with preventative maintenance, major services, and repairs on truck and trailer refrigeration units.
Strong electrical and charging system diagnostic skills.
Confident use of scanners, electronic test equipment, and on-board unit computers.
Experience with Freon leak detection, soldering, welding, and refrigeration equipment.
Carrier and/or Thermo King training or accreditation is a strong asset.
A team player who works safely, owns their work, and takes pride in quality.
