Beginning Boutique is where the outfit matters just as much as the moment. Their customer expects their order to arrive on time, fit perfectly, and feel amazing — and behind that experience is a rock-solid production engine.
We're hiring a Production & Sourcing Manager to own exactly that. This is a highly operational, hands-on role for someone who knows apparel production inside out, can keep critical paths moving under pressure, and builds strong factory partnerships without losing sight of margin, quality, or brand standards.
You'll sit at the center of Product, working closely with Buying, Design, Planning, Logistics, and offshore suppliers to make sure every style is delivered on time, on spec, and ready to sell.
THE ROLE
As Production & Sourcing Manager, you'll be accountable for the end-to-end production lifecycle across all Beginning Boutique suppliers. You'll own the critical path, manage day-to-day factory performance, support sourcing and fabric strategy execution, and lead our technical and sustainability function.
This role is ideal for a calm, commercially minded operator who thrives in fast-moving environments, knows how to push factories (firmly but respectfully), and takes real pride in building scalable systems and high-performing teams.
You'll directly manage the Production & Sustainability Lead and Garment Technologist, and partner closely with the COO on sourcing strategy and supplier performance.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:
Sample & product lifecycle management
- Own internal sample tracking from development through campaign, bulk, and re-cuts
- Align sample readiness with photoshoots and launch timelines
- Proactively flag risks, delays, and quality issues — and lead solutions
- Ensure all pre-production steps are completed on time (fit, QA, testing, packaging)
- Run weekly critical path readiness meetings with Buying and Design
Supplier management & performance - Manage day-to-day communication and performance across all factories
- Support onboarding of new suppliers, including capability and compliance checks
- Set and enforce clear expectations around quality, cost, and delivery
- Run monthly supplier performance reviews and drive continuous improvement
- Act as the operational escalation point for production issues
- Support the COO with data, insights, and reporting during vendor strategy reviews
Critical path & timeline ownership - Own the end-to-end production critical path from sample request to bulk delivery
- Keep Buying, Design, and Planning aligned on timelines and risks
- Drive accountability internally and externally to hit all key dates
- Identify bottlenecks and improve workflows to reduce lead times
Cross-functional partnership - Partner closely with Buying, Design, and Planning to ensure styles are feasible, commercial, and margin-aligned
- Validate construction, fabric, and lead-time feasibility early in development
- Provide clear visibility on factory capacity and sampling risks to support smart decision-making
Sourcing & fabric strategy execution - Execute sourcing and fabric strategies defined by the COO and external consultants
- Drive fabric platforming and alignment to approved mills and bases
- Track MOQ usage and reduce waste through smarter fabric adoption
- Ensure suppliers meet compliance, sustainability, MOQ, and lead-time requirements
Costings & margin support - Own accuracy and timeliness of all production costings
- Lead costing negotiations within commercial guidelines
- Flag margin risks early and drive corrective action with factories
- Analyze cost variances and prevent repeat issues
- Support seasonal and ad-hoc margin improvement initiatives
Quality ownership & returns reduction - Set and maintain quality benchmarks by category
- Lead root cause analysis on QC failures and customer returns
- Partner with Garment Tech to ensure consistent fit and construction standards
- Use returns data and customer insights to continuously improve product
- Present monthly quality and readiness updates to the COO
Sustainability execution - Execute sustainability documentation and compliance requirements
- Ensure accurate certifications, testing, and traceability across suppliers
- Embed sustainability expectations into production workflows
Team leadership & capability building - Lead, coach, and develop direct reports
- Set KPIs, conduct performance reviews, and build technical capability
- Champion strong documentation and communication standards
- Build scalable SOPs and systems to support growth
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR: - 5-8 years' experience in apparel production management (multi-category womenswear preferred)
- Strong experience working with offshore factories (China and Vietnam essential; India/Mexico a bonus)
- Proven ability to manage complex critical paths in fast-paced environments
- Solid understanding of garment construction, fit, and technical documentation
- Experience partnering closely with Garment Tech and pattern teams
- Exposure to sourcing, costing, and supplier negotiation
- Background in mid-size fashion or fast-moving DTC/eCommerce brands
YOU'LL THRIVE HERE IF YOU'RE - Calm, solutions-focused, and unflappable under pressure
- Commercially sharp but deeply respectful of brand and product quality
- Confident pushing factories and resetting timelines when needed
- Highly organized and detail-driven
- Data-minded and comfortable with tracking and reporting
- A natural leader who enjoys mentoring and building strong teams
- Ethically minded and sustainability-aware
- Passionate about fashion and how great product gets made
(Yes — this role occasionally requires checking WeChat across time zones when things get real.) WHY BEGINNING BOUTIQUE? We care deeply about the customer experience — and that starts with how well our product is made. You'll have real ownership, influence, and the opportunity to shape how we scale our production and sourcing function as the business grows.
If you love making things run better, building strong factory relationships, and delivering product you're genuinely proud of, this is a role where you'll make a real impact.
Sound like you? We'd love to hear from you.
