Are you eager to land a brand new role? Our client, a local authority in West Sussex, are looking for an experienced Project Manager to join their team and play a crucial role in their capital delivery operations.  

Position: Project Manager
Location: West Sussex
Contract: 3 months (Possible Extension)
Rate: £500 a day umbrella
Hybrid: 2-3 days in the office

Duties:

• Lead the end-to-end delivery of a portfolio of capital projects or works
• Establish and monitor delivery plans, milestones, and major project schedules.
• Manage capital budgets, forecast expenditures, track cost variations, reconcile financial claims, and ensure value for money.
• Identify, track, and mitigate project risks, manage contract change controls, and resolve operational or site bottlenecks.
• Prepare regular program status updates, business cases and compliance reports for senior leadership or boards.
• Liaise with internal departments (finance, legal, asset management) and external delivery partners, contractors, or consultants.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying or Project Management
• Professional chartership or membership (e.g., RICS, CIOB, CICES, ICE or equivalent) is frequently preferred or required.
• Strong experience in contract administration (e.g., NEC3/NEC4) and commercial negotiation.
• Project management certifications (such as PRINCE2 or APM / PMP).
• Strong grasp of cost control, risk quantification, and business case development.
• Ability to motivate multi-disciplinary teams and influence senior stakeholders or board members.
