The role
ALS Geochemistry is looking for a Maintenance Coordinator to maintain our equipment at our Sample Preparation facility in Zillmere, with the potential for progression into a management role in the long term.
Working in a close-knit team, this full-time role will be responsible for:
- Performing routine maintenance and repairs on all sample preparation equipment
- Liaising with the Maintenance Manager, Site Manager, external contractors, suppliers, and the purchasing team
- Assisting in the development and refinement of new and existing maintenance systems
- Supporting the preparation and management of projects
- Ensuring staff are adequately trained and signed off on all equipment they use
- Providing general supervision of staff working in the Maintenance/Projects Group
- Managing the purchasing and stock levels of machine components and consumables
- Coordinating with the Site Manager on monthly expenditure
- Maintaining the appearance of both sites, including mowing lawns, keeping paths clear, and ensuring the area remains free from rubbish
- Replacing and disposing of bulk rubbish bags, including those from extractors and vacuum systems
- Organizing the recycling of scrap steel as needed
- Minimizing parts usage and waste
- Maintaining the tanks and filtration system daily or as required
- Prioritizing a strong safety culture while maintaining efficiency
The Essentials - Previous experience with power tools & equipment on a professional or personal level is essential
- Welding experience is highly regarded
- Must hold current Forklift licence
- Must hold current Driver’s licence
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Previous experience in diagnosing and fixing equipment issues is desirable
- Excellent work ethic
- Familiarity with Microsoft products
- Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision while contributing effectively to a team
- Must be dependable, physically fit, and prepared for manual tasks
- High level of verbal and written communication
- Ability to handle a busy and diverse workload efficiently
