The role
ALS Geochemistry is looking for Fire Assayers to join our Fire Assay team at our facility in Orange - NSW, where you will play a crucial role in the analysis of precious metals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately weigh samples and add flux reagents as part of the fire assay process.
- Operate high-temperature furnaces (900 - 1100°C) to fuse mixtures and extract metals such as gold.
- Perform cupellation and prilling to collect and prepare metal samples for analysis.
- Inspect samples, fusion pots, lead buttons, and prills to ensure quality and accuracy.
- Record and report any anomalies to maintain the integrity of the assay process.
- Follow strict safety procedures and proactively identify potential hazards in the workplace.
We are looking for enthusiastic individuals to join our team at the entry level, with a focus on developing their skills to become fully proficient Fire Assayers.
We also welcome candidates with leadership aspirations or prior leadership experience in other fields, as we are committed to identifying and nurturing future leaders.
Full training will be provided to support your growth, development, and career progression.
This
full-time position will involve working on a
Morning Shift roster: Monday to Friday from 6 am to 2 pm. This is a residential role, and you must be residing or planning on relocating to Orange - NSW, with current Australian work rights to be considered. The essentials - Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately in a high-paced environment.
- Comfortable working with high temperatures and handling chemicals safely
- Clear communication skills, both written and oral
- Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to perform procedures promptly and accurately
- A team player with a strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
- Previous experience in fire assay or a laboratory setting (preferred but not essential
