The day to day
ALS Water Laboratory in Bendigo has an excellent opportunity for a commercially-oriented Microbiology professional to join our successful team. In this position you’ll play a key role in the Lab’s provision of microbiological services to our clients.
The Microbiologist is responsible for:
- Oversee the running of the microbiology laboratory in conjunction with the Laboratory Manager
- Perform microbiological analysis in accordance with QWI’s and ALS Quality systems
- Perform basic chemistry analysis in accordance with QWI’s and ALS Quality systems
- Data review, LIMS entry and reporting of analytical results
- Perform required QA/QC tasks and maintenance of equipment used for conducting analysis.
- Mandatory participation in week-end roster for analysis and the sampling on-call roster.
The Essentials - Relevant tertiary qualification and/or experience working in an appropriate discipline (Chemistry or Microbiology or Biology).
- General computer literacy skills.
- Strong numerical skills.
- Good laboratory techniques.
- Maintain accurate data records and prepare analytical reports.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with other employees and with clients.
- Aptitude, experience and understanding of the requirements of a NATA certified laboratory.
- Ability to work independently or with limited supervision and to make decisions and apply professional knowledge and judgement to solve problems.
- Plan and prioritise tasks and perform these tasks efficiently
- Ability to work under pressure in a team environment.
