The role
ALS Environmental in Mudgee is seeking a Field Officer / Laboratory Assistant to join our dynamic team, dedicated to exceeding client expectations by consistently delivering a high-quality service to internal and external clients. This is an excellent opportunity for motivated individuals to work in a supportive environment and contribute to our commitment to excellence. This is a Part -Time or Casual role, and you will be responsible for Environmental Monitoring and Laboratory duties, including Sample Receipt.
Your responsibilities will encompass but are not limited to, the following:
· Environmental monitoring in the field.
· Driving 4WD vehicles
· Completing Job Safety and Environmental Analysis.
· High level of attention to Health, Safety and Environmental aspects of work
· Operate field equipment, including hand-held pH & EC meters
· Record Keeping
· Follow procedures and adhere to QAQC protocols
· QAQC calibration and equipment verification checks
· Highlighting anomalies in field sampling and results
· Assisting in Sample Receipt, data updates and general laboratory duties.
You will receive on-the-job training in the technical components and procedures of the role. This is a residential role. To be considered, you must reside in or plan to relocate to Mudgee, NSW, and have current Australian work rights.
The essentials
· A genuine interest in the Science Industry, preferably with a BSc (Chemistry, Environmental Science or similar) or TAFE qualifications in Laboratory Techniques
· Aptitude for outdoor work and ability to work in a variety of conditions, with preference given to those with previous environmental monitoring or laboratory experience
· Excellent attention to detail, organizational and time management skills
· Desire to learn new skills
· Good communication and time management skills
· A positive client focus and attention to quality service
· Problem solving skills
· High level of attention to health, safety and environmental aspects of work.
· Proficient computer skills (MS Office)
· The ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision whilst being committed to the work of a team
· A current Manual driver’s license
