Engineering Trades Australia (ETA) is representing a well-established underground gold mining operation seeking an experienced Reliability Engineer to support its underground mobile plant fleet. This is a permanent, site-based role within a technically mature operation that places strong emphasis on reliability engineering, data-driven maintenance, and continuous improvement.
This opportunity is well suited to a Reliability Engineer with hands-on heavy mobile equipment (HME) experience who is looking for long-term stability, strong operational exposure, and the chance to make a measurable impact on asset performance in an underground environment.
About the Role
As the Mobile Plant Reliability Engineer, you will work closely with maintenance, planning, and operations teams to improve equipment availability, reduce downtime, and optimise lifecycle costs across the underground fleet.
Key Responsibilities:
Analyse mobile plant performance, failure trends, and maintenance data
Develop and implement reliability strategies for underground HME fleets
Conduct root cause analysis (RCA), defect elimination, and reliability studies
Support maintenance planning through data-driven insights and reporting
Improve asset availability, utilisation, and maintenance effectiveness
Liaise with OEMs, planners, supervisors, and site leadership
Drive continuous improvement across reliability and maintenance practices
About You
You will bring a strong technical mindset, practical site experience, and the ability to translate data into actionable reliability improvements.
We’re looking for:
Degree qualification in Mechanical Engineering or similar
Proven experience in mobile plant reliability within mining environments
Strong exposure to underground heavy mobile equipment
Experience with RCA, FMEA, condition monitoring, and CMMS systems
Strong analytical, reporting, and stakeholder engagement skills
A proactive, site-focused, and solutions-driven approach
