About the Role - Mechanical Fitter We are looking for experienced Mechanical Fitters to join our Clients Newcastle maintenance hub. This is a yard-based position and be the backbone ensuring the Tunnel Boring Machines (TBMs) and auxiliary equipment are good to go. You'll be responsible for the teardown, diagnostic, and rebuild of massive tunneling equipment between major infrastructure projects across NSW. Your Typical Day - Mechanical Fitter
TBM Overhauls: Performing major mechanical maintenance and component replacement on TBM cutter heads, thrust systems, and trailing gear.
Hydraulic Systems: Troubleshooting and repairing high-pressure hydraulic circuits, cylinders, and power units.
Preventative Maintenance: Executing scheduled service programs on auxiliary plant, including grout plants, conveyors, and ventilation fans.
Precision Fitting: Refurbishing gearboxes, bearings, and seals to OEM specifications.
Diagnostics: Identifying wear and tear or structural fatigue before machines mobilize to the next site.
What We're Looking For - Mechanical Fitter
Trade Qualified: Certificate III in Engineering (Mechanical Fitter) or equivalent.
Experience: Previous experience with TBMs, heavy earthmoving, or large-scale mining plant is highly regarded.
Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in hydraulics and reading complex mechanical/pneumatic schematics.
Reliability: A "yard-first" mindset—you take pride in the workshop and enjoy the complexity of a full machine rebuild.
Safety: A rock-solid commitment to WHS standards.
