The Role
We are seeking a Practitioner to join our team based on the Gold Coast in a permanent Full-Time capacity. This position provides collaborative case management, crisis intervention, safety planning, and support services to women and children impacted by domestic and family violence.
The role involves working closely with key stakeholders including Queensland Police, Child Safety and DVConnect to support families experiencing complex and high-risk circumstances. The successful applicant will work within a trauma-informed, strengths-based framework to improve client safety, wellbeing, and housing stability.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver trauma-informed case management, crisis intervention, and support services to women and children experiencing domestic and family violence.
- Conduct risk assessments, safety planning, and support clients with Domestic Violence Orders (DVOs).
- Assist families experiencing homelessness or housing instability to access safe and appropriate accommodation and support services.
- Work collaboratively with Queensland Police, Child Safety and DVConnect to coordinate client support.
- Engage effectively with families experiencing complex needs including domestic violence, mental health, substance use, child protection, and housing challenges.
- Provide culturally responsive support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and culturally and linguistically diverse communities.
- Maintain accurate case notes, reports, client records, and data collection in line with legislative and organisational requirements.
- Participate in High Risk Case Management meetings, Local Level Alliance networks, and interagency collaboration activities.
- Contribute to continuous improvement, program evaluation, supervision, and professional development activities.
Skills, Experience & Requirements - Relevant tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Psychology, Social or Behavioural Sciences, with eligibility for APS, AASW, or equivalent professional membership.
- Demonstrated experience in domestic and family violence practice, including risk assessment, crisis intervention, safety planning, and case management.
- Strong understanding of the Domestic and Family Violence Act, Child Protection Act, and Privacy Act.
- Experience supporting individuals and families experiencing complex and high-risk circumstances.
- Knowledge of housing and homelessness support services, particularly within the domestic and family violence sector.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary and outreach-based environment.
- Strong written, administrative, and computer literacy skills including case notes, reporting, and data entry.
- Commitment to child safety, cultural competence, and organisational values including Catholic Social Teaching principles.
Mandatory Requirements - Current driver’s licence.
- Blue Card (or ability to obtain).
- Australian work rights.
- Current National Police Check (or willingness to obtain).
