Business Development Manager
Remote – UK Clients
£70,000 + car allowance + bonus/commission (OTE £110,000)
Fourblue have partnered with a well-established, civils and power engineering company that delivers essential infrastructure projects across the UK. Known for their technical capability, reliability and client-focused approach, the business continues to grow and is now looking to appoint a commercially driven Business Development Manager to support the next phase of expansion.
This is a hands-on role, ideal for someone who understands the utilities and civils environment and enjoys building relationships, shaping opportunities and supporting bids from early engagement through to submission.
The role
You will work closely with the senior leadership and operational teams, you’ll be responsible for developing new client relationships, identifying upcoming opportunities and supporting tender activity across the power utilities and civil engineering sectors. You’ll represent the business confidently with Tier 1 contractors, network operators and key stakeholders, helping to strengthen market presence and secure long-term workstreams.
Responsibilities of the Business Development Manager:
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities within power utilities and civil engineering
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, DNOs, IDNOs, principal contractors and supply chain partners
- Lead or support tenders, PQQs and bid submissions, ensuring high-quality, timely responses
- Work closely with delivery teams to ensure bids are accurately scoped and priced
- Track market trends, competitor activity and upcoming frameworks
- Help develop business content for social media, case studies and promotional material
- Maintain a structured business development pipeline and provide regular updates
- Contribute to wider commercial strategy, growth planning and service development
Criteria for the Business Development Manager: - Proven experience in a business development, commercial or client-facing role within utilities, civils or construction
- Strong understanding of the UK power transmission and distribution market, with DNO/IDNO exposure highly desirable
- Confident communicator with excellent relationship-building and presentation skills
- Commercially aware, organised and proactive, with a full UK driving licence
