Senior Authorised Person (Electrical) - Europe
Location: Various Project Sites Across Europe
Reports to: Senior Authorised Person / Control Engineer
Are you an experienced electrical professional ready to take on a senior role within major international projects?
We are seeking a Senior Authorised Person to lead safe systems of work on high-voltage and low-voltage electrical networks across multiple European project sites.
About the Role:
As a Senior Authorised Person, you will be responsible for ensuring safety from the electrical system during all phases of work. You will lead switching operations, prepare and control safety documentation, supervise Authorised and Competent Persons and ensure full compliance with electrical safety rules and industry standards.
You will also play a key role in supporting commissioning activities, mentoring future APs and CPs and maintaining the highest levels of operational discipline and documentation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform switching operations in accordance with your authorised level.
- Apply isolations and safety precautions following established procedures.
- Prepare, issue and cancel Safety Documents (e.g., LVPTW, LOA, HVPTW, SFT).
- Write detailed switching schedules.
- Supervise Competent Persons and working parties performing electrical work.
- Conduct “Prove Dead” procedures before work begins.
- Ensure clear identification and demarcation of work areas.
- Liaise closely with the Control Engineer for system release and restoration.
- Escalate hazards or defects to the Control Engineer promptly.
- Lead HV and LV switching, isolations and earthing operations.
- Confirm readiness for energisation and manage system handovers.
- Mentor and supervise APs and CPs under your control.
- Coordinate with Control Engineers and Testing Teams during commissioning.
- Conduct energisation readiness checks and sign Power On Requests.
- Carry out toolbox talks and routine audits to drive compliance.
- Maintain accurate logs, records and control system documentation.
- Support the Authorising Engineer in assessing and mentoring new candidates.
Requirements: - Extensive experience working on HV and LV electrical networks.
- Written appointment as a SAP from an Authorising Engineer.
- Strong understanding of switching schedules, isolations and electrical safety rules.
- Familiarity with safety documentation and standards such as EN 50110-1.
- Demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience.
- Recognised electrical engineering qualification or equivalent industry experience.
