HAYLO People, a specialist WHS search firm have partnered with a growing manufacturing company to secure their next Safety Officer.
The Company:
This growing, locally owned motor vehicle manufacturing company have built a strong reputation for world class products and service. Starting out their journey from the Head Office in Cairns, the company now has multiple sites across Australia along with a second manufacturing site in Brisbane even shipping around the world.
The Opportunity:
This role brings the opportunity to join a supportive operations team as WHS Officer based in the Cairns production facility and HQ. You will report into a strong leader, the Operations Manager and partner with internal and external stakeholders to ensure best safety practices. You will ensure compliance, follow legislation, and provide strong advice to support the wider team and business all while promoting a strong safety culture.
Responsibilities:
• Contributing to and leading safety initiatives across all manufacturing sites and branches
• Conducting regular site inspections of workplace and relevant equipment
• Conducting accident and near-miss investigations, WHS audits, worksite assessments and safety training
• Assisting the implementation of risk identification and control for specific activities
• Preparing WHS reports and statistics, and provide recommendations for improvement
• Embedding and maintaining the safety management system, templates and documentation
• Reviewing and maintaining the SafetyCulture software system
• Effectively addressing employee safety concerns and escalating as needed
• Coordinating emergency procedures, fire wardens and first aid officers
• Supporting injury management and early intervention
• Monitoring correct use of PPE
• Ensuring the health and safety of all customers, visitors and team members
The Candidate
• Minimum Cert IV in Work Health & Safety
• Proven experience in a front-facing WHS role, preferably in manufacturing
• Current licenses and certificates (including First Aid, Australian Manual Drivers Licence, Forklift ticket)
• Strong computer literacy skills, specifically within MS Office and applications
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
• Effective problem-solving skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively within a team
• Experience in Return-to-Work desirable
