JOB ROLE
Our client is looking for a talented and driven associate to join its New York real estate practice.
The ideal candidate will work on a wide range of matters, including acquisitions and dispositions, joint ventures, financings, leasing, and related transactional work.
Candidates should be comfortable taking significant responsibility, managing multiple workstreams, and interacting directly with partners, clients, opposing counsel, and other transaction participants.
The ideal applicant will be able to work well in a fast-paced, lean team representing institutional and entrepreneurial customers, and they will have expertise managing complex commercial real estate transactions.
JOB DESCRIPTIONThe duties and responsibilities of the role will include:
- Collaborate closely with clients, lenders, brokers, title companies, and other advisors throughout the transaction lifecycle.
- Draft, review, and negotiate purchase and sale agreements, joint venture agreements, loan documents, leasing documents, and other related transactional agreements.
- Help in the planning and carrying out of intricate commercial real estate transactions
- Oversee transaction diligence, which includes examining surveys and titles, zoning and land use concerns, organizational records, current contracts, and lease evaluations.
- Manage signature packages, create closing checklists, and deal with post-close issues as you plan and supervise transaction closings.
- Throughout the course of the transaction, work closely with clients, lenders, brokers, title companies, and other advisers.
- As needed, assist partners with financing, restructuring, and asset management issues.
THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATEThe successful candidate will have the following skills and competencies:
- J.D. from an accredited law school
- Admission to the New York Bar or the ability to quickly waive
- Outstanding organizational, analytical, negotiating, and drafting abilities
- Capacity to oversee several projects at once and operate autonomously with suitable partner assistance
- Strong academic background and outstanding communication abilities both in writing and speaking
