This hands-on role is ideal for someone with strong construction, facilities and contractor management experience who enjoys delivering practical outcomes — from project scoping through to handover.
About the Role Reporting to the Facilities team, the Facilities Works Officer is responsible for the development, construction and maintenance of MSWA facilities, ensuring works are delivered in line with best practice maintenance principles, safety standards, approved budgets and timeframes.
You will manage the scoping, procurement and delivery of small to mid-value capital works and facility maintenance projects, working closely with contractors, consultants and internal stakeholders from project initiation through to completion.
A key part of this role is seeking continuous improvement — identifying inefficiencies, modernising processes and recommending improved ways of working to strengthen operational performance.
Key Responsibilities - Scope, procure and deliver facility maintenance and capital construction works
- Manage contractors and sub-contractors, including compliance, documentation and performance
- Prepare estimates and provide advice on works costs, sustainability and financial strategies
- Contribute to annual capital works and maintenance budget planning
- Coordinate quotations and tendered arrangements in line with procurement requirements
- Maintain accurate project records covering time, cost, quality and forecasting
- Liaise actively with internal and external stakeholders from initiation through to handover
- Ensure works comply with WHS legislation, construction standards and MSWA policies
- Identify deficiencies in current practices and recommend improvements and modern approaches
- Support a safe working environment for employees, contractors and visitors
Must-haves - Qualification in a relevant construction, building or facilities-related discipline
- Minimum 7 years’ experience in facilities management or construction environments
- Strong experience in procurement, project administration and contractor management
- Sound understanding of WHS and risk management in construction settings
- Current C class manual driver’s licence
- Strong communication skills and ability to engage diverse stakeholders
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
