Our client, a well-established engineering firm based in Perth's North, are currently seeking an experienced Estimator to step into a role based in their workshop for a temporary to permanent position, supporting the business through a key leadership transition.
 
This role plays a key part in bridging offshore planning with local project execution. Working closely with the Offshore Operations Manager and the General Manager, the focus will be on reviewing offshore estimates and integrating the necessary local scope.
 
This role involves the following but not limited to:

• Prepare clear, accurate, and competitive tenders for structural steel projects
• Review drawings and specifications — identify commercial risks and assumptions
• Compile and validate supplier and subcontractor pricing
• Attend tender meetings, site briefings, and client presentations
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors
• Prepare variation pricing throughout project delivery
• Clearly communicate pricing rationale and commercial recommendations to internal stakeholders
• Collaborate with fabrication, installation, workshop, and operational teams
• Capture lessons learned from completed projects and feed insights into future estimating

Key Requirements:

• Minimum 3 years’ estimating experience, ideally within structural steel or heavy fabrication (precast, mining infrastructure, heavy industrial)
• Confident in interpreting drawings, shop details, and technical scopes
• Strong commercial awareness with an understanding of margins, risk, and project profitability
• Effective communicator who can engage confidently with clients, suppliers, and internal teams
• Solid understanding of fabrication and installation workflows, with practical insight into on-site realities
• Familiarity with relevant Australian Standards for steel
• Experience preparing variation pricing
• Understanding of construction contracts and associated risks
• Must have full Australian working rights

The role is based in the Malaga office working Monday to Friday. The salary rate ranges from $105,000 - $125,000 + Super, depending on the experience and capability of the successful candidate.
