Electrician/Machine Builder Opportunity in Western New York
Our client, a decades-long manufacturer in Sanborn, NY, is seeking a skilled Electrician/Machine Builder to join their team!
This is an on-site/full-time/permanent position
Hourly based on experience: $22-$30/HR
Position Summary:
The Electrician / Machine Builder plays a hands-on role in bringing custom industrial automation machinery to life. This position focuses on industrial machine wiring, control panel assembly, and system testing—not residential or commercial electrical work. The role partners closely with engineering and production teams to ensure machinery is built accurately, safely, and to performance standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Machine Wiring & Assembly
- Wire and assemble industrial machinery and electrical control panels from schematics and blueprints
- Install and connect motors, sensors, controls, servo drives, and VFDs
- Route, cut, and terminate wiring for 24VDC to 480VAC three-phase systems
- Perform continuity, functionality, and performance testing
- Use hand tools, power tools, conduit benders, and electrical testing equipment
Diagnostics, Testing & Troubleshooting
- Read and interpret electrical drawings, BOMs, and routing sheets
- Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues during build and startup
- Test and fine-tune machines to ensure optimal performance
- Make minor PLC program adjustments (Allen Bradley)
- Identify root causes and implement long-term solutions to recurring issues
Collaboration & Production Support
- Partner with engineering and production teams to ensure build accuracy and quality
- Support machine startup and commissioning efforts
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives
- Travel as needed for out-of-town service and support
Qualifications:
- Two-year technical degree in Electronic/Electrical Technologies or equivalent training
- 4+ years of experience in a production or electrical department
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and specifications
- Working knowledge of volt/ohmmeters, ammeters, oscilloscopes, and test bench instruments
- Experience with PLC-based systems and functional computer skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with servo drives and VFDs
- Strong startup and troubleshooting experience across multiple product lines
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
