Job Title: Housing Manager
Type: Temporary 3-month contract
Location: Bishops Stortford
Salary: £21.87 paye
Hours: Full-time
BRC are working closely with a housing provider to recruit a Housing Manager to deliver high-quality housing management services across a designated patch, supporting safe homes, strong communities, and excellent customer outcomes.
This role involves being a frontline presence within communities, managing a broad housing management service including tenancy management, income, ASB, estate inspections and customer engagement, while working collaboratively with internal and external partners.
Duties: - Manage tenancies across rented and leasehold properties, including allocations, lettings and sustaining tenancies
- Handle reports of anti-social behaviour in line with policy, including noise complaints and enforcement action where required
- Proactively manage rent and service charge arrears, maximising income and supporting customers through early intervention
- Carry out estate, fire safety and property inspections, ensuring safe and well-maintained environments
- Manage void properties to minimise turnaround times and income loss
- Act as a key point of contact for customers, delivering accessible, responsive and high-quality housing services
- Identify and respond to customer vulnerability and safeguarding concerns, escalating appropriately
- Work closely with customer services, maintenance, health & safety and external agencies including local authorities, police and fire services
- Use data and KPIs to monitor performance, identify risks and drive service improvement
- Prepare robust documentation for legal action where all other options have been exhausted
- Promote customer involvement and consultation, including local service charge discussions
- Provide line management or specialist support where required, depending on location
Requirements: - Proven experience in housing or tenancy management
- Strong knowledge of arrears management, ASB and sustaining tenancies
- Experience working in a customer-focused environment
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Ability to manage a varied and busy workload independently
- Confident using digital systems and housing management databases
- Full driving licence and access to a vehicle
Desirable: - Experience of safeguarding vulnerable adults and children
- CIH Level 3 qualification (or willingness to work towards)
- Experience working across rented, supported and leasehold housing
- Experience managing or supporting staff
