About The Role:
As a Data Engineer, you'll be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining scalable data pipelines and platforms to deliver reliable, high-performing data for analytics and decision-making. Manage the end-to-end data lifecycle, from ingestion to modelling, while leveraging cloud, data lakes, and distributed frameworks.
Collaborate with engineers and stakeholders to deliver high-quality, governed data solutions, enabling secure, reusable, and accessible data for both centralised and self-service use.
Role & Responsibilities: - Create and optimise ETL/ELT pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Synapse Analytics, and Azure SQL Database to deliver scalable, high-performance data solutions.
- Develop and maintain data models, stored procedures, and performance-optimised queries; implement architectural improvements and hotfixes to enhance the enterprise data platform.
- Implement automated testing, deployment, and monitoring of data workflows using Azure DevOps to ensure reliability and efficiency.
- Translate business requirements into robust Azure-based data solutions, working closely with analysts, product owners, and business teams.
- Define and enforce data governance standards, ensure data integrity, and maintain accurate and accessible enterprise data for decision-making.
- Maintain technical documentation, metadata repositories, audit trails, and runbooks to support compliance, platform sustainability, and business continuity.
Skills & Experience: - 2–5 years designing and developing ETL/ELT processes, optimising SQL Server applications, and supporting relational database environments.
- Proficiency with Microsoft technologies including SQL Server, Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake, and related services; strong knowledge of dimensional and relational data modelling techniques.
- Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions, communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders, and troubleshoot data anomalies with strong analytical skills.
- Experience with Python, cloud-native platforms (Azure Synapse, Databricks), and DevOps practices including CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and deployment in Azure DevOps is highly regarded.
- Understanding of data governance, metadata management, master data management (MDM) is desirable, as well as experience implementing frameworks for data lineage, cataloguing, and quality monitoring.
- Tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Data Engineering, BI, IT, or related field; relevant Microsoft certifications (DP-203, DP-900, DP-300, DP-700) and additional cloud, DevOps, or security certifications are advantageous.
