APS6 Program Officer – Environmental 

About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join a federal government team focused on strengthening regulatory programs that support environmental outcomes. You will contribute to the ongoing development and delivery of a mature regulatory framework within a collaborative and supportive environment.

As an APS6 Program Officer, you will play a key role in program administration, regulatory improvement initiatives, and governance activities. You will work across complex and sometimes sensitive matters, providing advice and supporting stakeholder engagement to deliver positive outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Contribute to the strategic development and continuous improvement of a national regulatory program
• Apply technical knowledge, legislative frameworks, and guidance to complex situations
• Support stakeholder consultation and engagement activities, including contributing to regulatory positions
• Undertake analysis to develop recommendations and provide advice to senior leadership
• Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including industry
• Support contract management and governance arrangements
• Drive innovation and continuous improvement to enhance program delivery

About You
You are a capable and motivated professional with experience in regulatory, policy, or program environments. You bring a strong ability to analyse complex information and communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders.

You will demonstrate:

• Experience interpreting and applying legislation, policy, or regulatory frameworks
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
• Proven stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills
• Sound judgement when working with sensitive or complex issues
