Job Title: Field Service Representative (Gas Utility Technician)
Location: British Columbia - Various Locations
Salary: $33.00/hour
Reports to: Field Service Leader

Important Hiring Note (May Group - Travel Team Only)
We are currently only hiring for the May intake Travel Team. Candidates must be fully committed to a rotational travel-based role from June to September.
During this peak project period, this role is primarily travel-based, supporting multiple locations across British Columbia. Outside of the peak travel months (June-September), employees will primarily work within their home region or assigned local area projects.
Job Summary:
We are seeking dedicated Field Service Representatives to join our team in British Columbia. As a Field Service Representative, you will be responsible for the installation of gas meters for residential and small commercial customers. You will work closely with the Field Service Leader to ensure all installations are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all regulatory standards.
This role includes a structured rotational travel schedule during peak season (June-September), requiring flexibility, independence, and a strong commitment to extended field deployments.
Travel & Rotation Requirements (Critical - Must Read)
- Travel required throughout British Columbia during peak season (June-September)
- Work schedule operates on a 14 days on / 4 days off rotation
- Candidates should expect to complete this rotation 1-2 times per month during peak season
- Over a 2-month period, this may equate to approximately:
- Up to 42 days working away from home
- Approximately 12 days off
- Approximately 6 days working locally (non-travel assignments depending on scheduling)
- Majority of working time during peak season will be spent travelling
Travel Support Provided: - Company-provided Metercor vehicle for travel assignments
- Hotel accommodation fully paid during deployments
- $80 per day travel allowance while travelling
Key Responsibilities: Installation & Field Work: - Install new gas meters at residential and small commercial properties
- Use hand tools and equipment as part of daily meter installation activities
- Conduct safety checks and leak tests on installed meters
- Support other Metercor project locations on a rotational or short-term basis when required
Safety & Compliance: - Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures
- Ensure all installations comply with relevant codes, standards, and regulations
Customer Service: - Interact with customers professionally and courteously
- Explain installation process and provide clear information
- Address customer concerns and provide appropriate solutions
Documentation & Reporting: - Accurately document all installation activities
- Complete and submit digital work orders via handheld device
- Maintain inventory of tools, equipment, and materials
Qualifications: Education & Experience: - High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in gas meter installation, plumbing, pipe fitting, or related field is an asset but not required
Skills & Competencies: - Strong mechanical aptitude and technical ability
- Comfortable with hands-on, physical field work
- Strong troubleshooting skills
- Excellent customer service skills
- Reliable, punctual, and self-motivated
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Comfortable using digital devices for work orders and reporting
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively for extended periods
Certifications & Requirements: - Valid driver's license (driver's abstract required)
- Successful criminal background check
Training Program: - Paid 2-week training program prior to deployment
- Covers gas meter installation, safety procedures, and customer service
- Includes hands-on field training and mentorship from experienced technicians
Working Conditions: Environment: - Outdoor work in varying weather conditions
- Exposure to potential hazards (e.g., gas systems, confined spaces)
- Regular physical activity and use of tools throughout the day
- Frequent regional and provincial travel required during peak season
Physical Requirements: - Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, and kneeling
- Use of PPE, including fitted face mask where required
