About the role
This role is a strategic and operational role that supports the implementation of Standards Australia’s international engagement strategy. The role strengthens Australia’s contribution to ISO and IEC through expert committee support, stakeholder enablement, and operational delivery.
In this role you will foster effective relationships with standards bodies/organisations and provide targeted assistance to Technical Committee chairs, Committee Managers, and secretariats to ensure high-quality engagement and outcomes.
What you’ll do
- Develop relationships with counterpart national and global standards body partners in support of Australia’s broader strategic interests and cooperation amongst nations globally
- Contribute to the implementation of Standards Australia’s international engagement strategy, aligning activities with organisational goals and government priorities
- Support internal and external stakeholders to engage effectively with ISO and IEC processes
- Help ensure Standards Australia is meeting its obligations as a member of ISO and IEC, including adherence to procedures and deadlines
- Support Technical Committee Chairs and Committee Managers in navigating international participation, IT systems and consensus building
- Monitor emerging issues, opportunities, and risks in the international standards system and escalate recommendations.
- Lead Committee Manager quarterly catch-ups and Chairperson biannual forums, including agenda design, facilitation, and action tracking
About you
- Bachelor’s degree in politics, international relations, communication, or a relevant field
- Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in standards, policy, or international engagement roles
- Understanding of Australia’s trade policy and economic diplomacy priorities
- Solid knowledge of national/international standards-setting processes (ISO/IEC)
