Role: Litigation Solicitor
Experience: Newly Qualified – 2 years’ PQE.
Location: Whitechapel.
Salary: Dependent on experience.
Job Description
The duties and responsibilities of the role will include:
• Managing a varied caseload of property and commercial litigation matters.
• Acting for private individuals and small to medium‑sized businesses.
• Handling commercial litigation matters, including contractual disputes, civil fraud, professional negligence, shareholder and partnership disputes, debt recovery, asset recovery, defamation, and injunctions.
• Managing property litigation matters, including landlord and tenant possession claims, disrepair, service charge disputes, dilapidations, leasehold disputes, boundary disputes, and TOLATA matters.
• Drafting pleadings, correspondence, and legal documentation.
• Conducting negotiations and advocacy where appropriate.
• Advising clients on legal strategy and appropriate courses of action.
• Maintaining excellent client‑care standards, with clear and regular communication.
• Recording time accurately and ensuring files are billed and closed promptly.
• Working collaboratively with colleagues across the Conveyancing, Probate, and Family departments.
• Supporting the continued growth of the Dispute Resolution department.
• Participating in marketing, networking, and business development initiatives.
• Keeping up to date with legal developments relevant to litigation and dispute resolution.
• Undertaking administrative tasks to ensure efficient case progression and billing.
• Providing supervision where appropriate and escalating matters when supervision is required.
The Successful Candidate
The ideal candidate will have:
• Qualification as a Solicitor with NQ–2 years’ PQE.
• Experience and knowledge across a broad range of property litigation matters, including landlord possession, disrepair, tenancy disputes, leasehold matters, service charge disputes, and breach of covenant.
• Experience in commercial litigation, including contractual claims.
• Experience acting for privately paying clients and SME businesses.
• Excellent written, verbal, and telephone communication skills.
• Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise and work under pressure.
• Strong problem‑solving ability and excellent attention to detail.
• Commercial awareness and good IT proficiency.
• Willingness to engage in business development, marketing, and networking activities.
• Proven ability to build and maintain strong client relationships.
• A proactive and self‑motivated approach, with the confidence to work independently.
• A current Practising Certificate.
