Fire Designer Omaha, NE
Pay: Starting at $26.75/hour, with higher rates considered based on relevant experience

This role is for a Fire Designer who understands that strong fire protection design is about accuracy, code compliance, and constructability — not just drafting.

As a Fire Designer, you will be responsible for producing fire sprinkler designs that move cleanly from submittal through installation and inspection. Your work directly supports commercial and industrial projects, with an emphasis on clear drawings, reliable hydraulic calculations, and coordination that minimizes field issues.
Key Responsibilities

• Design fire suppression systems including wet, dry, pre-action, and foam sprinkler systems
• Produce AutoCAD shop drawings, hydraulic calculations, and complete submittal packages
• Ensure designs comply with NFPA standards, IBC requirements, and local AHJ/fire marshal requirements
• Coordinate with MEP trades and internal project teams to resolve conflicts prior to installation
• Conduct site visits to verify field conditions and support constructability decisions
• Track quantities and support project documentation tied to installation and closeout

Qualifications

• Prior experience in fire sprinkler design, fire protection, or related construction design work
• Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD
• Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, and MEP drawings
• High attention to detail and accountability in life-safety system design
• Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with design and field teams
