An established airline catering company based in the Auckland Airport Precinct is seeking a capable and motivated Accounts Payable Officer to join its finance team. Reporting to the Financial Accountant, this role forms part of a small, high-performing team responsible for managing accounts payable functions for a portfolio of more than 1,000 suppliers across New Zealand.
The successful candidate will oversee end-to-end accounts payable processes, ensure timely and accurate payments, and maintain strong financial controls. The role includes managing complex AP tasks & also providing guidance and support to three existing AP staff, contributing to the development of best practices within a fast-paced operational environment.
Key Responsibilities
Invoice Processing:
Receive, review, and verify supplier invoices for accuracy and compliance with purchase orders and contracts.
Match invoices with delivery notes and purchase orders.
Payment Management:
Prepare and process weekly/monthly payment runs.
Ensure payments are made within agreed credit terms to maintain supplier relationships.
Reconciliation & Reporting:
Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies promptly.
Assist with month-end closing and provide accurate AP reports to management.
Compliance & Documentation:
Maintain accurate records of all accounts payable transactions.
Ensure adherence to company policies, food industry compliance standards, and financial regulations.
Communication:
Liaise with suppliers and internal departments (procurement, production) to resolve invoice or payment queries.
Respond to supplier inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
Qualifications & Skills
Education:
Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
Experience:
Minimum 2 years' experience in accounts payable or similar finance role.
Experience in a manufacturing/ food production or FMCG industry is an advantage.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, MYOB, or similar).
Strong MS Excel skills.
Soft Skills:
Attention to detail and accuracy.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
