Job Title: Neighbourhood Officer 
Type: Temporary 5 months till end of March 2027
Location: Newport and Monmouthshire (hybrid working) 
Salary: £19 - £25.50 an hour
Hours: 37 hours per week
 
BRC are working closely with a housing association who is looking for a customer focused Neighbourhood Officer to join their team in South East Wales.
 
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience as a Neighbourhood Officer or Housing Officer in social housing. You will lead the delivery of a proactive, high-quality neighbourhood management service that is customer-focused and efficient, enabling sustainable tenancies and the development of strong, cohesive neighbourhoods.
 
Duties:

• To take ownership and responsibility for all enquiries received; identifying customer needs and offer and implement solutions.
• To lead on proactively managing low level anti-social behaviour in accordance to the Policy and Procedures.
• Deliver an effective tenancy management service, which includes undertaking actions such as; successions, transfers and legal action where appropriate. As well as working closely with the income team to deliver rent first objectives.
• To ensure that the Association’s neighbourhoods and estates are maintained to a high standard.
• To identify and deliver proactive solutions that create great spaces including the development of neighbourhood plans, identifying areas of environmental improvement and undertaking tenancy health checks.
• To have a strong focus on prevention and early intervention, you'll support residents to sustain their homes wherever possible, while taking firm and appropriate action when contracts are breached.
• To work collaboratively with colleagues, partners and stakeholders, to deliver strong and effective place-based leadership.

Requirements:

• Good knowledge of relevant housing legislation and comprehensive knowledge of neighbourhood/housing management functions
• Proficient at using Microsoft Office packages and the ability to adapt to new systems include level of digital literacy required.
• Experience of providing a responsive and sensitive frontline housing service
• Experience of multi-agency working to solve problems
• Be able to use a coaching approach, to empower tenants and customers
• Ability to problem-solve, think creatively and work on own initiative
