The Firm
An excellent opportunity has become available for an Intermediate to Senior SMSF Accountant to join a well-established and highly regarded accounting firm in Brisbane.

The firm has a strong SMSF division and is looking for someone with hands-on SMSF experience who wants to continue developing their technical capability while gaining exposure to a diverse portfolio of funds.

You'll join a supportive team with strong systems, ongoing training and genuine opportunities to progress your career.

The Role

Depending on your level of experience, your responsibilities will include:

• Prepare financial statements, member statements and income tax returns for a portfolio of SMSFs.
• Review and process contributions, pensions and investment transactions in line with SMSF legislation.
• Manage annual compliance requirements and liaise with external auditors to resolve queries.
• Correspond directly with clients and the ATO regarding fund compliance, lodgements and general queries.
• Assist with actuarial certificates, pension documentation, minutes and resolutions.
• Monitor contribution caps, pension minimums and other relevant regulatory requirements.
• Work across BGL and other cloud-based accounting systems.
• For more experienced candidates, provide technical support and assist with reviewing work completed by junior team members.

About You

We're open to candidates from Intermediate through to Senior Accountant level, with the position and package tailored to experience.
Ideally, you'll have:

• Previous experience working with SMSFs within an Australian accounting firm.
• A relevant Accounting degree.
• Good working knowledge of SMSF legislation, including the SIS Act, SISR and relevant ATO requirements.
• Experience preparing SMSF financial statements and tax returns.
• Exposure to contributions, pensions and other SMSF compliance matters.
• BGL/BGL360 experience highly regarded.
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
• Confident written and verbal communication skills.
• The ability to work autonomously while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
