The Professional Standards Group (PSG) is dedicated to safeguarding the BDO New Zealand network through comprehensive quality assurance, proactive risk management, financial reporting technical support, and a continuous drive for improvement.
As the Head of Ethics and Independence, you’ll be responsible for operating an effective system of quality management for our non-assurance service lines, ensuring adherence to ethical standards, and driving excellence through innovative quality assurance practices, proactive risk management, and a steadfast commitment to continuous improvement.
THE OPPORTUNITY:
An exciting opportunity for a dynamic, detail-oriented individual, who is passionate about quality and excellence.
You’ll have strong organisational and communication skills, a solid understanding of auditing and ethical standards, and valuable experience as an auditor or in a regulatory role.
- Policy and Compliance Management: Align firm policies with BDO standards, address independence threats, and ensure local policies meet ethical standards.
- Empower Through Knowledge: Provide comprehensive training and development programs that equip our team with the skills and resources needed to excel in their roles and uphold the highest ethical standards and foster a culture of integrity and compliance.
- Project Work: Oversee client data systems, drive the adoption of global conflict checking technology, manage conflict checks, and provide evidence for quality management.
- Communication and Consultation: Advise on quality risks, communicate changes, handle ethical consultations, and lead investigations.
- Monitoring and Evaluation: Develop monitoring procedures, manage remediation processes, and improve the Quality Management System.
ESSENTIAL EXPEREINCE FOR SUCCESS:
- Extensive auditing or regulatory experience (Associate or Director level) within a large corporate, governmental, or accounting firm.
- Strong organisational, communication, and time management skills.
- Knowledge of NZ and International ethical guidelines.
- Relevant tertiary and CA qualifications, with adaptability to learn new technologies.
- High ethical standards, integrity, and proactive team management
