The Role 

A key member of the Corporate Services team and working closely with the General Manager, the Finance Manager is responsible for all financial operations and ensure the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting. The Finance Manager will work with the Financial Accountant and be responsible for managing monthly accounting, payroll, internal and external financial reporting, KPI reporting, fixed asset reporting, and the collation of information for reporting to BDO National.
This role requires a detail-oriented individual with strong analytical skills and the ability work with the wider Corporate Services team.

• Financial operations: Oversee all financial operations, including monthly accounting, fortnightly payroll, internal and external financial reporting, KPI reporting, fixed asset reporting, and collation of information for reporting to BDO National.
• Financial reporting: Prepare and present accurate and timely financial statements and reports.
• Compliance: Ensure compliance with accounting standards, taxation obligations, regulations, and internal policies.
• Cashflow management: Monitor and report on cashflow.
• Accounts payable function: Oversee the accounts payable function, including creditor payments, staff expense claims, queries, and loading disbursements into the practice management system.
• Revenue function: Internal reporting of the firm's revenue activities, including fees billed reporting, billing queries, and the credit control function.
• Support firm initiatives: Develop and implement robust financial processes to support the firm's staff support and wellbeing initiatives.
• Budgeting and Forecasting: Drive the annual budgeting process and work with teams to ensure financial forecasting is up-to-date and accurate.
• Monitoring: Monitor and analyze financial performance, identifying areas for improvement.
• Professional Trust account/client funds: Manage the professional trust account, working with auditors and ensuring compliance with professional standards.
• Internal controls: Implement and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard the firm's assets.
• General data integrity: Working with the teams of the firms to ensure that firm systems are up to date and maintained in an efficient manner

  
About you 

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy, good problem solving and decision making abilitites
• Strong understanding of financial principles and accounting standards
• Excellent organisational and leadership skills
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• An inquisitive mind, wanting to delve deeper into the business to understand the whole picture with a focus on researching and problem solving skills and a drive for continuous improvement
• Familiarity with Xero and iPayroll would be highly beneficial
• A proactive, detail-oriented mindset with a focus on delivering results
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities and to work under pressure
• Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, or a related field.
• Professional certification (CA or CPA) preferred.
• Valid right to work in New Zealand
