Auckland Rugby is seeking applications for
two Independent Board Member positions.
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to one of New Zealand's most recognised sporting organisations and help shape the future direction of rugby in Auckland.
To support strong governance and strategic leadership, Auckland Rugby has adopted a capabilities framework that identifies the experience, expertise, and perspectives required around the Board table. Ideally, candidates will bring strength in one or more of the following areas:
- Community Rugby Network Experience
- High Performance Sport
- Governance Experience
- Stakeholder Relationship Management
- Business and Commercial Acumen
- Accounting and Financial Expertise
- Marketing and Communications
- People and Culture
Successful candidates will demonstrate strong strategic thinking, sound judgement, and high personal integrity, while sharing a genuine passion for rugby and a commitment to Auckland Rugby's values and vision.
Auckland Rugby believes rugby is a game for all Aucklanders and is committed to fostering diversity and inclusion at every level of the game.
We welcome applications from people with a broad range of backgrounds, experiences, perspectives, and expertise, and we encourage candidates who can contribute to a diverse and balanced Board.
The role requires participation in:
- Approximately 11 Board meetings per year
- Sub-committee meetings as required
- A three-year term of appointment
These are voluntary positions; however, Directors receive membership privileges at Eden Park.
Applications close at 5.00pm on Monday 14 September 2026. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to meet with the Appointments Committee during the week commencing
28 September 2026.
Candidates recommended by the Appointments Committee will be invited to address:
- The Council of Delegates meeting on Wednesday 4th November 2026
- The Auckland Rugby Annual General Meeting on Monday, 14 December 2026
Final appointment is subject to candidates receiving majority support at the Annual General Meeting.
