An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a well-established and highly respected construction business delivering a significant new build project in Hawke's Bay. This is a fixed-term role through to March 2027, with strong potential to transition into a permanent position as the business continues to grow.

This role is ideal for someone who has come from a site-based background—such as a Site Foreman or Site Manager—and has developed strong Health & Safety capability. You'll bring a practical, hands-on understanding of construction, combined with the ability to drive a positive safety culture across site.

The Role
Working closely with the project team and client, you will take ownership of Health & Safety on-site, ensuring best practices are embedded and maintained throughout the lifecycle of the project. This is not a purely compliance-driven role—you'll be a visible, proactive presence on site, influencing behaviours and building strong relationships.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage Health & Safety practices across a large-scale new build project
• Work closely with site teams to ensure safe, efficient delivery of works
• Engage confidently with the client, providing clear communication and reporting
• Conduct site inspections, audits, and risk assessments
• Drive a positive safety culture through coaching and leadership
• Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and company standards

About You

• Background as a Site Foreman, Site Manager, or similar hands-on construction role
• Proven experience in Health & Safety within the construction sector
• Strong understanding of construction methodologies and site operations
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage with clients and stakeholders
• Confident, approachable, and proactive in your approach
• Ability to balance practical site delivery with robust H&S standards
