An excellent opportunity has become available for a Project Site Engineer to join a highly regarded civil contractor delivering major infrastructure and structures projects across Auckland and wider New Zealand.
This business has built a strong reputation within the industry through quality project delivery, collaborative relationships, and a practical approach to construction. With continued growth and a strong pipeline of secured work, they are now looking to add a motivated and capable Project Site Engineer to their team.
This role will suit someone who enjoys being close to the action onsite, takes pride in technical delivery, and is looking to further develop their career across complex civil infrastructure projects.
The Role
Working closely with Project Managers, Site Managers, and project teams, you will play a key role in supporting the successful delivery of civil structures and infrastructure projects.
The role will involve a strong mix of site coordination, technical engineering support, planning, QA, and subcontractor management, with a particular focus on bridges, retaining walls, rail, and urban infrastructure works.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the planning and delivery of civil infrastructure projects onsite
- Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, materials, and site activities
- Ensure works are completed safely, efficiently, and in line with programme requirements
- Prepare and manage QA documentation, inspections, and project reporting
- Review drawings, specifications, and construction methodologies
- Support project cost control, forecasting, and procurement activities
- Monitor project progress and assist with short-term planning and sequencing
- Work closely with site teams to identify and resolve technical and construction issues
- Maintain strong communication with clients, consultants, and stakeholders
What We're Looking For We're keen to speak with candidates who have:
- Experience working within civil construction or infrastructure projects
- Exposure to structures projects including bridges and retaining walls highly regarded
- Experience across rail or urban infrastructure projects beneficial
- Strong technical understanding and ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Good organisational and communication skills
- Positive attitude with a willingness to learn and take ownership
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment
Desired Background - Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or related discipline
- Experience working for a civil contractor in New Zealand preferred
- Familiarity with QA systems, project documentation, and site coordination
- Strong computer literacy and understanding of construction management systems
