Who are we? Our client is a small but mighty Aussie business. Since 2018, they’ve built a tight-knit team of about 12 locals, working closely with an offshore crew. As they grow, they’re on the hunt for a friendly all-rounder to jump in and help with HR for about 4 hours a week. Who are you? You're a seasoned HR Generalist who loves the variety that comes with a hands-on, operational role. You're confident advising business owners on HR risks and best practices, and you know how to balance structure with flexibility. Whether it’s performance conversations, policy updates, or setting up a staff event - you’re across it all. You bring calm, capability, and clarity to HR, and you’re comfortable working independently in a small, evolving business. You enjoy making things smoother and better for everyone - and you know your impact matters here.
Day to day
Working around 4 hours a week on-site (with flexibility on which day), you’ll be the key HR support for both the main business and a small in-house legal team. Your work will include:
- Partnering with the business owner and operations manager to provide advice on structure and change
- Supporting performance conversations and helping embed greater accountability
- Managing HR admin through Employment Hero (contracts, onboarding, performance reviews, etc.)
- Providing advice on basic ER issues and policy matters
- Assisting with culture and engagement initiatives (e.g. team events, Christmas party)
- Supporting recruitment with screening, shortlisting, and fit assessments
- Potentially contributing to acquisition activity - including due diligence and onboarding support
What's in your toolkit? - Experience in an HR Generalist or P&C Advisor role
- Solid understanding of Australian employment law and compliance
- A confident, down-to-earth communication style
- Strong organisational and documentation skills
- Familiarity with HR platforms (bonus if you've used Employment Hero)
- Ability to work independently and bring structure into a growing team environment
