What's the brief?
This is a pivotal time to join a values-led and purpose-driven organisation as it enters its next phase of strategic growth and capability uplift.
Backed by a stable financial foundation and a clear vision for expansion, the business is investing in leadership, structure and new people initiatives to
enable smart, sustainable scale.
Our client is a privately owned leader in personalised in-home care, supporting individuals to live independently and with dignity. With more than 1,000 staff across multiple regions and a plan to double revenue in the next five years, the business is entering a critical phase of transformation. The General Manager People will play a central role in aligning the people function with strategic growth goals, ensuring the workforce is ready to meet the future.
We’re looking for a commercially minded and values-aligned GM of People who thrives in dynamic environments, operates confidently at the executive level, and brings a practical and strategic lens to people leadership. You’ll work closely with the C-suite and wider leadership team to navigate change, lead integration efforts, and elevate capability across the business.
Your Remit
Executive Partnership: Represent the people function on the executive team with clarity, credibility, and commercial judgement. Influence strategic decisions through data-driven insights and practical counsel.
Workforce Strategy: Move beyond tactical hiring and build future-focused workforce models. Develop internal mobility pathways, improve planning capability, and embed structures that support scale.
IR and Compliance: Confidently guide leaders through complex ER/IR matters, reduce external legal reliance, and ensure compliance frameworks are robust and future ready.
M&A Integration: Support due diligence, IR risk analysis, and systems alignment across two Victorian acquisitions. Drive the cultural and structural integration of acquired teams.
Leadership: Develop and support a small but engaged HR team, including an experienced HRBP currently covering ER/IR, a TA Manager, L&D, and WHS.
Executive Remuneration: Take ownership of the executive remuneration strategy. Benchmark STI structures, work with the CFO to build a robust rewards model, and lead communications with the board.
Learning and Leadership Development: Lead the implementation of a new Career Pathways & Progression Program, embedding a culture of internal mobility and professional growth.
What You Bring
You’re a people strategy and performance leader who thrives in dynamic environments, equally comfortable designing solutions from the ground up, or transforming established systems to deliver business-aligned outcomes. You blend commercial acumen with strategic HR insight, and you know how to translate complexity into clarity for the teams you lead and support.
You bring a rigorous approach to risk management, knowing when to proceed carefully and when to act decisively. You’re someone who can make the call, and back it up with a clear, evidence-based business case. You’re credible at the executive level, and comfortable engaging in operational and commercial conversations beyond HR. You view HR as a lateral service function, and naturally work across teams to embed solutions. You challenge thinking and bring ideas, offering both strategic foresight and practical delivery.
You are also confident leading through acquisitions, supporting due diligence and cultural integration. You’re not here to keep things steady, you’re motivated by building, stretching others, and driving high performance. You will coach and partner closely with your direct team, while also helping shape the next phase of executive leadership within the business.
