About the role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to join the Group Project Management Office (GPMO) at Standards Australia.
Reporting to the Program Lead, this role is responsible for delivering complex, high-value and strategically significant initiatives across the organisation. Projects may include technology-enabled transformations, business change programs, operating model improvements and regulatory initiatives.
You will lead projects from initiation through to completion and transition into business-as-usual operations, ensuring delivery against scope, schedule, budget and quality expectations. The role also plays a key part in strengthening delivery maturity across the organisation by promoting consistent project governance and delivery practices.
What you’ll do
In this role, you will lead the successful delivery of complex projects across Standards Australia.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading the definition of project scope, objectives, delivery approach and success measures in partnership with business owners and stakeholders
- Establishing project governance structures aligned with the organisation’s project lifecycle and approval frameworks
- Developing and maintaining integrated project plans covering scope, schedule, budget, risks and dependencies
- Managing the end-to-end delivery of projects from initiation through to implementation and transition to BAU
- Monitoring and controlling project scope, schedule, budget and quality in line with approved business cases
- Managing project financials including budgets, forecasts and reporting
- Leading change management activities including communications, stakeholder engagement, training and readiness planning
- Coordinating testing activities including system, integration and user acceptance testing where required
- Managing vendor relationships and overseeing delivery against contractual obligations
- Leading cross-functional delivery teams and providing direction and oversight to project coordinators
- Providing delivery advice and guidance to senior stakeholders on risks, sequencing and organisational readiness
- Contributing to continuous improvement of project management frameworks, tools and governance practices
About you
You are a highly capable project delivery professional who thrives in complex environments and is passionate about delivering impactful organisational initiatives.
You will bring: - Extensive experience managing complex projects across technology-enabled, operational or transformation initiatives
- Demonstrated expertise across the full project lifecycle, from initiation through to delivery and benefits realisation
- Experience applying project management methodologies such as Agile, hybrid or waterfall delivery approaches
- Strong financial management capability including project budgeting and forecasting
- Experience managing vendors and external delivery partners
- Excellent stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to influence and advise senior leaders
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making capability
- Proven leadership ability with experience leading cross-functional delivery teams
- Relevant project management certification (e.g. PRINCE2, PMP, Agile or equivalent)
