Parish Operations Coordinator – Sacred Heart Catholic Parish, Childers
Permanent, Part-Time (20 hours per week)

Sacred Heart Catholic Parish in Childers is seeking an organised and dedicated Parish Operations Coordinator to provide administrative and clerical support to the Parish Priest and Leadership Team. This role ensures the smooth operation of the parish office and assists in the pastoral mission of the church.

About the Role

Reporting to Fr Jack Ho, the Parish Priest, the Parish Operations Coordinator will be responsible for a range of administrative and operational duties, including but not limited to:

• Managing office and reception duties, including answering enquiries, handling correspondence, and preparing the Parish newsletter.
• Maintaining Parish records, including registering baptisms, weddings, and funerals.
• Updating and managing the Flocknote Database, ensuring accurate record-keeping and reporting.
• Coordinating parish maintenance, liaising with tradespeople, and working with the Finance Council on upkeep matters.
• Managing financial administration tasks such as checking invoices, liaising with Archdiocesan Finance, and arranging payments.
• Assisting with sacramental registrations and liaising with families for baptisms, weddings, and funerals.
• Ordering office and liturgical supplies as required.
• Supporting the Parish’s commitment to safeguarding children and vulnerable adults.
• Ensuring compliance with Workplace Health and Safety, Privacy, and Child Protection legislation.

About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Ideally a minimum five years’ experience in office administration, ideally in a small business or similar environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and database management.
• Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, demonstrating empathy and professionalism.
• The ability to work independently while maintaining confidentiality and discretion.
• A sound understanding of Catholic Parish operations (desirable).
• A current driver’s licence.
• A Blue Card (or willingness to obtain one) and a Criminal Police Check (or willingness to obtain one).
