About the Role:
BHP has engaged SCEE Electrical to undertake The Newman Township AMI project which will see our team replace approximately 3,000 old and outdated power meters across the township of Newman.
For this project, we are seeking reliable and motivated Electricians to join our team based in Newman, WA. You will work in teams of two, carrying out meter replacement works within residential and commercial areas throughout the township.
As you will be interacting directly with residents at their homes, a high level of professionalism and strong communication skills are essential.
We require candidates who demonstrates empathy, patience, and a respectful approach to their work, ensuring safe, efficient, high‑quality service and a positive experience for the community.
What you will be doing:
- Replacement of 3000 power meters connecting these customers to the supply authority with secure smart meters.
- Self-perform isolations at dome or overhead line fuses, replace meters, energise and complete the required “service connect test”.
- Record replacement details for submission to the supply authority.

Start Dates: 16th & 25th June 2026, respectively
Duration: Approximately 8 months
Hours: 12-hour shift | Paid 11.5 hours
Roster: 2:1 Roster
Travel: FIFO from Perth with camp accommodation in Newman provided
What you need:
- Current unrestricted WA Electrical Licence
- Experience with metering and service installations
- Service Connect Trained (desired)
- Strong understanding of AS3000 and WA Electrical Requirements
- Valid Australian drivers licence
- Ability to work effectively in a 2-person team with a strong commitment to safety, quality and compliance
- Construction White Card
- BHP Training (desired)
- To be able to complete and pass a pre-employment medical and drug and alcohol screening.
