Who are we? Our client is a specialist infrastructure business operating in a high-risk, safety-critical environment, supporting essential services across multiple sites and depots. Their work is technically complex, operationally focused, and underpins critical networks relied on every day. They operate with a decentralised model where decisions are made close to the work. As the business continues to grow, HR plays a critical role in lifting people capability, strengthening training frameworks, and ensuring compliance in a fast-moving, operational setting.
Who are you? You’re a hands-on HR generalist who thrives in industrial environments and understands the importance of training, competency, and compliance - not just as a requirement, but as a driver of safety, performance, and capability.
You’re comfortable working closely with leaders and site-based teams, can operate independently, and bring structure to environments that are still maturing from a systems and process perspective. You enjoy building practical solutions and supporting change, including system and process improvements.
Day to day
In this role, you’ll provide end-to-end HR support across around 100 employees and multiple business units, with a strong focus on training, compliance, and workforce readiness.
Your day-to-day will include:
- Owning and driving training and competency requirements in a safety-critical environment
- Ensuring training records, licences, and certifications are current, accurate, and auditable
- Partnering with leaders to identify capability gaps and support practical training solutions
- Supporting performance management and employee relations matters as they arise
- Assisting with recruitment, onboarding, and workforce growth across operational and corporate roles
- Playing a hands-on role in the implementation of a new HRIS (go-live expected mid-year), including data preparation, process uplift, and adoption support
- Supporting the transition from manual HR processes to more structured, system-driven ways of working
- Maintaining HR data, reporting, and compliance in a low-system environment
- Working closely with payroll to support accurate people data and governance
- Contributing to broader culture, leadership, and capability uplift initiatives
What's in your toolkit? - Solid HR generalist experience in industrial, construction, utilities, infrastructure, logistics, or engineering environments
- Strong experience managing training, compliance, and workforce competency frameworks
- Confidence operating in safety-critical, site-based environments
- Experience supporting or assisting with HRIS implementations or system transitions
- Comfortable working in low-system environments and helping lift process maturity
- High attention to detail, particularly around training records, compliance, and workforce data
- A pragmatic, hands-on approach with the ability to balance operational delivery and improvement initiatives.
