About the role:
The School-Based Apprentice Parks and Recreation position sits within our Parks and Recreation Department. This role is designed to support students currently completing high school, giving you the chance to work outdoors, learn from experienced team members and begin your Certificate III in Parks and Gardens while finishing your studies.
This opportunity is based in either Clermont or Moranbah, giving you the chance to work within your local community.
Your apprenticeship will see you:
• Assist with maintaining and improving Council’s parks, sportsgrounds, playgrounds and open spaces
• Learn basic irrigation, mowing, gardening and general maintenance practices
• Safely use and care for tools and small equipment
• Support the team with day-to-day labouring and upkeep of community spaces
• Receive on-the-job training, mentoring and structured training toward your qualification

Hours: Part-time (aligned with your school schedule)
Qualification: Certificate III in Parks and Gardens

• Enjoy working outdoors and staying active
• Have a positive attitude and willingness to learn
• Can follow instructions and work safely as part of a team
• Are committed to completing both school and your apprenticeship
• Are currently enrolled in school (Year 10 or above)
• Have (or are working towards) a driver’s licence (desirable but not essential)
• Have an interest in gardening, landscaping or outdoor work
