The Role
 
Are you a sharp Purchasing Officer who loves running a smooth desk, but gets even more excited about fixing broken, repetitive processes? This isn't just a transactional ordering job - it's a tactical purchasing role with a built in process improvement mandate sponsored directly by our Head of Supply Chain.
 
Initially managing an indirect, packaging and consumables portfolio, your day to day will keep manufacturing operations reliably supplied.  At the same time, you will actively work to shrink the desk, converting repetitive manual orders into automated replenishment, streamlining vendor data and documenting processes to ISO 9001:2015 standards.
 
What You'll Be Doing

• Tactical Purchasing & Expediting: Raise and manage purchase orders in Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365). Track stock balances, resolve receipt/invoice discrepancies, handle import documentation, and keep stakeholders updated on ETAs.
• Process Improvement & Automation (30-40% of the role): Analyse ordering patterns to eliminate manual purchase orders. Shift repeat purchases to blanket orders, leverage D365 planned-order settings, and track monthly time/cost savings.
• Data Integrity & Master Records: Clean up vendor master data, fix duplicate records, and document robust work instructions consistent with ISO 9001:2015 quality standards.
• Supplier Relationships: Build collaborative supplier relationships, manage RFQs, coordinate returns/credits, and contribute to supplier evaluations.
• NPD Involvement: Engage early in New Product Development (NPD) to identify single-source and lead-time risks before components hit production builds.

What We're Looking For

• Experience: Background in purchasing, supply chain, inventory or procurement administration within a manufacturing or distribution environment.
• System Aptitude: Hands-on experience with ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics 365 preferred). Strong Excel skills are essential (VLOOKUPs and Pivot Tables at a minimum; Power Query is a bonus).
• Process Mindset: A track record of identifying inefficiency, proposing a business case, and successfully implementing a lasting process change.
• Communication: Clear, direct communication skills, giving stakeholders and suppliers exactly what they need to act the first time.
• Qualifications: A qualification in Supply Chain, Purchasing, or Business is desirable, but equivalent hands on experience or a recent qualification with strong systems aptitude is just as welcome!
